We offer housing services to Indigenous people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, or eviction in the HRM area.

Our Services

    Intensive Case Management

    Supports Indigenous clients who are in urgent need to find housing and maintain stable jousting (eviction prevention). ICM may continue to provide support to clients and after housing has been obtained. Continued support may include referrals to mental health, food support, supporting clients' individual goals, etc.

    ICM are NOT counselling professionals

    Support/Check-ins are offered daily/weekly

    To be eligible for this program; the individual must a have a history of chronic homelessness (couch surfing, sleeping in rough conditions, or staying in shelter, etc.). Multiple barriers must be identified that are preventing the individual from maintaining / obtaining stable housing.

    Priority will be given to those who have higher associated risks and barriers to housing of Indigenous ancestry.

    Corrections Intensive Case Management

    The Corrections Intensive Case Managers (ICM) works to connect with Indigenous clients who are incarcerated or involved with the criminal justice system to support clients with their long-term housing goals. This position attempts to create a circle of care that meets the complex needs of folks leaving incarceration.

    The Corrections ICM will aid the client to navigate through the criminal justice system, attending court/probation appointments, finding housing and maintain stable housing.

    ICM is NOT a legal support worker

    To be eligible for this program; the individual must be getting released from jail or going through the criminal justice system and have a history of chronic homelessness.

    Priority will be given to those who have higher associated risks and barriers to housing of Indigenous ancestry adults.

    Housing Support

    Supports Indigenous clients to find and maintain housing. Housing Support Workers (HSW) services can also include eviction prevention, referrals to mental health services, food support, creating and achieving personal goals, etc.

    HSW are NOT counselling professionals, but again can refer to the proper professionals.

    Individual can receive short term housing from HSW in the form of advocacy, navigation with housing resources and social services.

    Support is not limited to clients, the HSW program offers drop-in services for anyone seeking housing-related support.

    Priority will be given to those who have higher associated risks and barriers to housing of Indigenous ancestry.
