A newly developed supportive transitional housing facility

Sage House offers culturally appropriate programming and residence for urban Indigenous women and Two-Spirit, Trans and gender-diverse individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, housing insecurity, and who are transitioning from unstable or unsafe housing situations to supportive temporary housing.

  • Sage House is a supportive housing facility run by the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre, providing a safe and welcoming space where residents can find resources based on traditional knowledge and cultural understanding.

  • Sage House is dedicated to supporting the urban Indigenous community by offering a culturally safe living space. We believe in meeting individuals where they are in their journey and providing the necessary tools and supports to foster growth and well-being.

  • While there is no cost for rent or utilities at Sage House, it is expected that all residents have some form of income or receive social assistance to cover all personal expenses and groceries.

    • All residents are expected to participate in weekly programming offered at Sage House.

    • These programs are designed to support personal growth, life skill development and overall well-being.

    • Sage House is a 9-bedroom supportive housing unit.

    • Staffed 24/7 to ensure the round-the-clock support for our residents.

    • Daily operations include case management with housing case manager and life skills programming tailored to meet the unique needs of our residents.

    • While transportation is provided for appointments, programs and groceries on designated days, there are no direct bus routes near Sage House.

  • • Each client has their own private bedroom and bathroom.

    • Sage House offers communal living with shared common areas, including a living room, kitchen and laundry room.

    • Our team works closely with residents to identify and develop their independent living goals.

Harm Reduction Approach:

At sage House, we are committed to fostering a community of healing, empowerment and cultural connection. We welcome individuals from all walks of life and strive to create a safe environment where everyone feels valued and supported on their healing journey.

Sage House operates from a harm reduction perspective, recognizing that some residents may struggle with substance or alcohol use, however there is no use allowed on property.

Our focus is on providing support and resources to promote safety, health and autonomy for all clients.
